And, there is a new w ide 5.5Ox18 low profile Ten Master tire from Trelleborg de- ' signed especially for the new Sun rim. Take it from the professionals, these two items are a winning combination. Here's why: First, there's a lot less maintenance because the rims stay true longer. And, the rider may run with appreciably less air pressure - insuring better traction - easier landings after jumps w ith less pressure on shocks - increased stability in turns and fast sweepers. Remember, the new wide rim andtire are available from your Torsten Hallman Racing dealers throughaut the country. . , Unofficial Results 125: 1. Danny laPorte 1·1 (Suz). 2. Pat Riehter 2-3 (Suz). 3. CA , APR. 9 The Dirt Diggers North M .e . once again spo nsored the ninth running of the H angtown Moto· cross classic and once again was an undisputed success. All classes of sportsma n races were filled to capacity, usually ab out 45 riders. The 250 Expert class was one of the ones that had the big crowd of spectators to their feet throughout both of the motos. It featured Tad Gombmann on a new Maico . Gombrnann worked up from poor starts in bo th motos to finish second overall, and claim the giant four-foot trophy. a nd numerous contingency awards supplied by local distributors . Conting en cy awards were also paid several places down the list of finishers so most people left winners no matter what their finish . Gombmarm's win didn't come easy. however, as he had to battle with Jim Lesniewski. on board a potent Ossa . Lesniewski finished out the day in second place. Rounding out the top three with two strong rides was John Minor (Suz). Danny Lawson (Hus) , David Gomez (Suz) , a nd Darrell Bu r t on a KTM were the three riders providing all the action in the 250 Junior race. They were so close that at times it was difficult to tell who was leading and who was running second and third . When it came down to it. Lawson got the nod for the overall win, with Gomez taking a well-earned second place. Darrell Bu n had a little problem with some other riders in the ' second moto but still fini shed third overall. Bob Myers , also riding one of the new Maicos pulled to the point in the first mota of the 500 Expert class followed by Rod Kewtnel on a Yamaha. These two riders went at it pretty steadily for several laps but towards the end of the moto Myers rim into some trouble when lapping a slower rider. "H e crashed right in front of me" Myers said later. And indeed. there was a lot of crashing going around on the long. sandy track . Myers finished second with Dick Buttner on a Husky taking third . In mota two , Myers once again pulled the holeshot but tTiis time it was too late. Kewtnel was right up there be hind him in second place and because the races had to be sho rt ened , the first moto acted as a tie -breaker. Kewtnel ~t the overall win with Myers takmg second and Buttner picking up third.
