J erry. T he next stop was the Open Expert half mil e and th at wa s a three wa y battle between Pet ers, Tim McWhorter an d Steve Mill er. It was Mill er wh o go t th e lead off the lim' with McWhorter in second and Pete rs third . On three Pet ers m ade a spectacu la r m ove th at go t him by both Mill er a nd McWhorter a nd o n h is way in front . McW horter put t he m ove o n Miller o n lap fo u r a nd lock ed into th e second slot. Rob Sclv y a nd Ray Lo vell had a su pe r ra ce in the Open Amateur half mile . Lovell got it off the lin e with Selvy rid ing doub le with him . On the fourth lap Sclv y made his move on th e inside and got the lead . It was Lovell 's tu rn to apply t he pressure but it was a case of trying too hard and he slid out co ming into turn t hree .
