W orth , The Zook s took the 100 class , too , with Jeff Coker and Randy Woodward at th e throttle. " W ho is that guy?" wondered Senior Mini class observers , as they watched Steve Howard , all the way from Midland , Texas clean both rounds on a YZSO , More familiar were Novice Mini winner Bryan Abernathy of Arlington and Ov er 30 first place Dwight Leatherwood . With the track a little faster in the afternoon , the Experts hit the g rou nd running, and more than a few did som e unscheduled soil sam pling, O ne who didn't was 125 Expert winner Ri chard Reev es , who turned two seconds into an overall win while Dav id Jones (Hon) and Danny Do ss (SUl) co u ld n' t do it tw ice . Do ss returned from a stum bling fir st round to tak e the final , but for Jones it was a trip to th e doctor . After lea ding gate to flag in t he o pe ner, Jones hook ed bars off the start of t he second moto and broke an el bow in t he subsequent crash . In th e 250 Expert , Bobby Picka rd ( Pe n) wa lked away at a 1·1 cli p , bu t right off the bat in round one, a nother co me r bi t th e dirt with las ting co nsequences, Young p ro Kurt Janish went down and suffered a b rok en leg. One of the new speedsters in the a rea is Dave Perry of Eul ess, whose RM's are ' a lways WF.O, and when he doesn't cr ash too often , he 'll do things like take second overall in today's 250 class, The top three places in Open Expert remained undecided until the finish line of the last moto. Ricky Kidd (Pen) , Wyman Priddy ( Bul) , and Bo bby Pickard (Pen) all had a chance for first as th ey swapped positions, Pickard led the trio over the last hill before the checkers, but his third from round one (due to a n errant plug wire) came back to haunt him. P rid d y nearly lost it , got over in the deep stuff and momentarily bogged down , opening the door for K idd , who clipped Wyman for seco nd at the lin e to t a ke a close 1-2 deci sion Over • Pickard's 3·1 a nd Priddy's 2·3 .
