As th ey smoked around th e turn th e ne xt five gu ys cra shed into one a nother for a gi ant bike pile . Am azingly enough, no on e was seriously injured. T he leaders wer e Is T r ip es, Mo sier , Smith a n d .Mike "Little" T ripes, who has not ridden .:; since October. Marty "Big" T ripes was oJ forced to DNF when his m achine quit , :1 gi ving th e lead to Mo sie r. Alan Sm ith (H us) a nd Rocky McKee (MCA) go t going and moved past Tri pes with Smi th ge tting by Smith for seco nd. The ne w order of th ings was Mosier , Alan Sm ith . John Sm ith a nd McK ee with Tim Marsh (S uz) followi ng . Mosier was off the lin e a nd go ing first in th e second mot o , with W es Sutt on (Ma i) in hot pursu it. J ohn Sm it h was thi rd a n d Al an Sm ith fourth . Sm ith swoo pe d Sutton at the bottom of th e downhill to take ove r seco nd lea ving W es a nd Alan to d ice it for th e three/ four slot. McKee was co m ing on strong when he d id wh at so many of th e 250 rid er s were doing. he crashed . When the rnoto was over and th e poi nts tallied th e pa yback went to Mosier , John FMF Sm ith. Alan Smith and Mike " Litt le" Tripes.' T ony and Pet e Wanket wer e th e su per sta rs of th e day's racing . The 125 Pro ra ce was unreal with excitement . Tony was able to out -gas his brother to take th e lead , but for th e en t ire race Pete was onl y inches behind. In th e seco nd moto Pet e got th e hol esho t to lead Tony arou nd th e tra ck until th e very la st lap , when Tony sco ot ed a ro u nd Pete to ge t th e over a ll win .
