Brown battles at De Anza By Ron Lawson SUNNYME AD, CA , J A N . 30 De Anza Cycle Park was t he scene of some close and, sometimes breath-ta king, P ro ra ces, especially in t he 250 class . Da n n y Mc Dougal (S u z), Jim La'Ten d resse (Suz) and Darrell Bro wn (Ma i) were all there , and Bro wn was running .his first race a t De Anza since turni ng Pro. but that didn't slow him down a bit. He shot out of the hol e a nd im media tely deve loped a sizable lead over McDougal, who had his hands full holding off LaTendresse. The two Suzuki riders were so wr apped up with eac h ot her , th ey lost sight of the flyin g Maico . As th e race wenton , it looked more and more like Brown had it made . T hen , with only fou r laps to go , Brown's .luck collapsed a long w t h his tire. Still , he had an eno rmo us lead a nd th ere was a cha nce he cou ld win the moto . Meanwhile , LaT endresse had torn free of McD ougal a nd was closing in . The Su zuk i pilot. real izin g Brown's p roblem , was on the gas .
