At the beginning of th is year, Team Husqvarna manager Rolf Tibblin knew he had abig job in . front of him . . . a whole season of off-road rac ing , inc luding the four premier desert races: the Baja 500, the Parker 400, the Mint 400, and the classic Baja 1000. Finally, on November 13,1 976, Team Husky co-ride rs Mitch Mayes and Larry Roeseler took a first overall in the Baja 1000, finishing thetorturous course in 11 hours and 30 minutes. Husky had done it.
