A close look at three pieces of
heavy equipment from the TransAMA circuit including the soon to
be released production Maico,
Husqvarna and ultra hot Kawasaki
works bike.
Adolf Weil's AW400 Maico is based on the new 19n production machine with personal
touches. The forks have 240mm of travel and are a combination air and soft spring. The
production bikes will come with springs only. The shocks offer 240mm of rear wheel
travel. Adolf uses GP Koni's w ith rem ot e reservoirs. The production bikes will come
with gas Girl ings. The only other modifications that have been made to the stocker is
0.1.0. rims, thicker seat and a special Adolf Weil chain tensioner built by Weil in his
shop in Germany. The bike is completely red with a black engine. Falk plastic is used all
around. Weight is 217 Ibs.
The Maico air caps are
visible on t he forks. but the
new triple clamps w ith t he
allen bolt cinch for the
steering steam is hidden.
Gas tank is red aluminum
with the same great exotic

The Maico engine has changed very little be
ei
a successful formula. The down
has always
pipe tucks very close to the frame rails to offer
more protection than in the past. Side-panels and
airbox are plastic and well designed.
