In the first run Shultz was bumped to second by Classen, and in the next try both Classen and Delno Becker got around him. Tim Busby (Yam) made it five , stra ig ht , in taking the 100 Novice race but lost ground in the high point standing to David Rosa (Yam ) winner of the Novice 125. Rosa had to work for his victory, being pressed all the way by Joel Green (Yam) and Kirk Brewer (Yam ). Terry Toeol (Suz), starting from the cheaters line, charged past the field after the first lap and won the Novice 250 class . Two riders traveled the distance from Davis and made their trips worthwhile. Randy Blankenship (Han) took the 250 and 360 Expert events, respectively. • .BOSS M X second round / By Sallee Hilton SACRAMENTO, CAL., OCT. 17 Magoo (Danny , - Chandler) repeated his win the first race of the series, and too k the 250 Expert class again with his flying KTM . Ted Rogers, riding for Husky West leads the-Open Experts with first overall both races. The first 250 mota was a cinch for Magoo after he took the lead from Kevin Henry (Bul) and Darrell Shultz (Bul) in the first lap. The "racing" was for second with Henry and Shultz bot Ii making the effort. Another' race was going on behind them between Pat Wilson (Hus) and John Minor. All of a sudden Dan Waller (Suz) was in th e picture moving up on the front runners. Shultz crashed and dropped back to about sixth , but didn't like that a bit and latched onto Waller's slip stream. Henry was dropping off the pace and the finish went to way out Magoo, then Waller, Shultz and Henry. I Magoo didn't have it so easy in the second moto when Mike Hersman (Hus) had the holeshot and the determination to stay in fro nt, which he did for ha lf the race in a super-tigh t fight. Magoo finally found a p la ce to get around and rode away. Waller and Henry all this time had a fight of their own going for third. After ta king turns i,! that position a few times Waller got some distance on Henry for the finish. Darrell Shultz, on a biggerBu lra co , also made a prime showing in the Open class. He took thelead right off the line in the first mota, and never ~ wavered. He ha d just enough room between himself and second runner Ted Rogers (Hus) to be comfortable. Shultz and Rogers were way ahead of third place man Glen Stiefel (Suz) . while Robert Norton (Hus) was gassin' it trying to overcome a bad start. Norton moved all the way to third , but after getting by Stiefel had no chance of catching up to the first two , Shultz and Rogers. ' In the second O pen mota it was Rogers' tum to get the holeshot, and the situation was reversed with Shultz chasing, but well ahead of third place Russ Crachnell (Mai). From the first lap to the last, the running order reamained the same. Rogers took the overall win, Shultz cashed in second and Stiefel third . David Ernst (Yam) led most of the first .125 mota before Danny Willis (Yam) took over the lead when Ernst threw a chain. Rich Pa ris (Han) was right behind Willis the rest of the way, but Willis held out against the pressure and took the win. Paris had the second and David Wood (Hod) third . ' Willis had a bad start the second try , and was dead last in the first lap. Paris had the lead sewed up, and Ernst was second. Willis put on a hard charge and worked all the way up to pass Ernst for second for the mota and the overall second as well. • YIPPEE! It's TransAMA Time! almost. -= IIlI ...:I t t..D r--.
