Rod Spencer had his bestever weekend taking third spot one of Steve Eklund's 'old bikes while wrench Frank Nye won the 500 Jr. bash. Dave Rosa cooked the goose of all comers in the 125 Novice main with Kirk Brewer holding off Bob Cunnington for second. Rosa has inherited a new number away from the mini class and if he ever runs into the former holder, Dick Steinke, he'll understand about the old time days and the big guys that raced funny bikes like Sportsters and Sprints. . Jerry Brandt .surprised some .riders in the 250 Expert Main with his biggest win yet . worth seven Black Plate points. Danney Hogue , Western Region Novice point leader for a time earlier this year , won the 360 Expert over Steve Brandt and Phil Howard. Hoque also won a 500 Expert heat riding a borrowed 500 TT Yamaha by KR Products and Diablo Distributing. There were 18 650 Experts off into the first turn late in the afternoon haze with Rick Graham leading the bunch but after only one full lap. Tavis and Gennai pulled away. Scott Pearson ana' the Harley West XR couldn't make up for a poor start despite having had a runaway heat. Rod held back pseudo teammate Rick .Delacy to second. Spencer was firml y in control of the 250 Main from wire to wire with Delacy carefully picking his way through. , I Spencer's second win carne in the 125 Expert Main where he has won the last 37 events for Frank Cancilla . The younger Harrell boys , Steve and Bill , did the 80 Novice Main. The event was called at seven laps when Wayne Karcich got his who le leg caught up in the rear tire of second running Eric Kiser. I t took Ron Beardslee's full ambulance services to get the young '!lan undone, and all good ambulance attendants shou ld carry tools to take rear shocks and swing arms apart. Karcich walked away with a sore ankle after much pain that saw his leg crisscrossed a ro un d the shock. through the swing arm and under the chain . Yikes...
