David also added the Short Track Division II win topping Leroy Baker and Steve Headley. Steve Karsten, who has reall y taken ' to the 125cc Amateur class, claimed a double victory from Fred Conover and Eddie Drake. John Lundgren also hit for two . when he took his Yamaha to the front in both the short track and half mile. John Wright hit for two and the gold in both the Open Novice Short Track and Half Mile. Dylan Neihart finally got it together , for the Open Amateur Short Track. He took the lead from Dave Peters on lap two and said adios to everyone else. 'Larry Hedstrom was locked into second but he didn't count on Jon Mudd finding a hole where there wasn't any as he got through for second at the finish, Dave Peters totally dominated the Open Amateur Half Mile and had his last look Wednesdy night as he rode • himself to Expert, John Karns held on to second for half the race before Dylan got by putting John third. Randy Headley, on his fast little 100cc Kawasaki, wo n the 125cc Novice Short Track in spite of a good challenge from Brad Bates. Half Mile specialist Todd Brown took the half mile and had better start taking a look at the 125cc Amateu rs. The Bates brothers, Brad and Jeff, were second and third. • Re sults in Results Section. Canyon re-opens Imbriale sets pace By Larry Owen PHOENIX, ARIZ., SEPT. 12 After a scant summer MX series (due to some unknown person or persons cutting down the lights and lightpoles at Canyon Raceway) daytime races resumed with a resp ectable turnout and high temperatures. John Imbriale (Hus) an nihilated the 125 Pros, while T. J. . Warren (Mon) turned two consistent motos into the overall win in the 250 Pro class . Only two Open Ex perts made a showing and Robert Brazil easily took the overall on his new (trick) KTM . Larry Owen (Hon) got out in front of the 125 Pros for half a lap, but quickly settled into third as 1mbriale blew by him for first, fo llowed by Andy Frola (Hon) in second. Second moto . was a repeat for Imbriale as he dominated a commanding lead with Gary Dircks (Hon) in second. , , . Tro p hies.d onated b y Kevin and Scott Henry All new track B_MX , 22 10 Kimwood L_, Rand10 Co rdova, CA 95610 916-635-5240 Pat Lew (Hon) banzaied his way to third, followed by consistent Waymond Williams (Yam) in fourth. John 1mbriale took the win, while Waymond Williams and Gary Dircks took second and third overall. Tom Pulver, sporting a new Maico, pulled a surprise holeshot in the first moto of the 250 Expert bash. He was by G~ followed very closely Hickerson (Hus) , David Anderegg (Suz) and T . J. Warren (Mon). Pulver decided to rest in a tum, but only Hickerson got by. On the next lap, Anderegg ate a big one, which let Warren by. Hickerson, Pulver 'an d Warren fmished one, two, three. The second moto started with T. J. in the lead and John Imbriale (Hus) planted to his rear fender. They pulled away from Pulver and Anderegg who were dicing for third. Imbriale imally got by Warren while Anderegg faded and let Hickerson (who came up from a bad start) by. That's the way they fin ished with T. J. taking the overall. Pulver barely edge d ou t Hickerson for second overall. ' • Results in Resu lt s Section. Racers are often surprised by track changes and tonight one whole new section by the starting line was certainly something that took everyone awhile to get the hang of. Without a doubt, there's a total Yamaha 80 MX domination in mini-cycle racing here at Ascot. Yamaha machines captured the first four places in Mini Expert action tonight. Usual rivals were snuffed back into follow-up positions by overall trophy winner Eddie Glover (Yam), who outraced the Flying Machine Factory duo of Rick Atkins and Bob Ott. There isnt any single hotshoe dominating the 250 Junior class yet. Certainly n ot to the point where an outsider can't come in and take the winning honors. This was proven by tonight's winner J eff Feinberg. The Maico ace has certainly taken his share of wins at other night racing tracks, but Ascot could be considered a new experience to him. Jeff flew to straight wins and the' overall ahead of 14 other finishers, Second and third place went to Greaves (Yam) and Seagraves (Yam) while Kawasaki competitor Jim Kesler won a fine fourth. • Results in REsults Section. ~J"mmiflllll!!IIf!lIllf!l!!I!!II!IIIII"~ . =-- ~.. - we Malcolm S mith 7563 Ind iana R ivenicle, CA 92504 II Dan Zeman, owner of Suzuki ' of Van Nu ys, California's No. I volume Suzuki dealer will be the 1977 Suzuki selling otorcycles at super low prices in the same fashion he did on the ' 76 models, Dan says that if you would like to save lots of money on a Suzuki you should call him for his super low price.
