The reason for t his as the Invad er s tell it, is because the club is very religious and they though it only prop er to h ave some sort of mass on Sunday. 176-250 Amate urs & Experts: A.C . Wit h sligh t di ngi ness and an injured arm, he let Andy Kirker (Hus) take over. Kirker led for th ree lap s, messed up, and let Bruce Ogilvie (H-D) an d Bob Rutten (Hus) pass and had to settle for third. First place Amateur was attacked b y Downhill Alexander, till he got off, recaptured first, threw a chain, recaptured first again , threw another chain, then said "to hell with it." 101-175 Amateurs & Experts: Danny Sanchez (KTM) walked away from the pack . on hi s 125 after taking over the lead on the third lap . 251-0 pen Amateurs & Experts : Madman Mitch Mayes m otored to yet an other start to finish win aboard h is 360 Husky. Having lapped the entire field, except seco nd ; third, and fourth, Mitch was flat o u t co oking! To prove the p oin t , a window screen he h o se clamped over h is silencer as a spark arrestor had a nice clean hole burned in it from his exhaust. Not so smooth, but still the start to finish second pl ace r, was Maico mo unted motocrosser Ch uck Pettigrew. Mike Ed monso m (Yam) and Terry Davis (Yam) rounded off those that weren't lapped by the leader. .The Amateur win we nt t o Dan Thordarson (Yam) who also led h is cla ss from start to finish. Charles Beck took second place honors o n his Suz uki. An dy Kirker, after taking third 250 Expert earlier hopped on his 500 Yamaha and endoed, running in fifth. He got up "I could have bro ken saying something!" Results in Results Section.
