Jeff Lysdale put things together so well in the 250cc Novice class that second place Richard Hill had twice as many poin ts. Terry Harris was third by the margin of one point. The 250cc In term ediates were separated by one point and every one of those points was ' hotly contested. Randy Collier parlayed his 1-3-2 finishes for the win with Frank Bua's 3-1-3 enough for second and Jerry Lowell's 2·2·4, the magic number for third place. Fred Welch had the Open Beginner win and Rodney Harrison claimed the Open Novice. Goat Breker and David Williams played all kinds of games in the 250 Expert class. Goat won the first t-':o motos with leads of up to half the len gt h of the course. In the third mo to somebody lit David's fire and he was out in front to stay. Goat, on his Dallas Baker tu ned Kawasaki, was ' riding d ou bl e with him all the way_ but couldn't find the room to pass, His last attempt was a banzai drive a few feet fro m the finish line and all it got him was a close up look at the Corona terrain within spitting distance o f the finish line . Brad Sherrill overcame a third in moto one and smoked in the second round to assure himself a solid second overall. • Collins and Son's Richee Collins showed off the capabilities of the newer KTM 400 in the Open' Pro class. He came from two poor starts to motor into a p erfect I-I score. Richee's strongest comp etitio n came from Jack Hazzard. J ack, troubled in the first moto, carne back in the second to lead for nearly three quarters , o f the race until the roost of Collins' KTM came rocketing by. Jim Allison held the lea d for one lap be fore Dennis Briggs took over and said adios of the rest of the pack. Bill Cain was the second sp ot rider in the Open Expert class and Allison claimed the dough.
