The half-mile saw Jim hanging on to second, trying to figure o ut a way to get by Robert Ray, when , Rober t went down leaving the way clear and J im was able to hold off Mark. Mark Shelton pulled all the stops out as he we nt for a clear vic tory in the Open Novice TT taking the win over , J o hn Wells and Vic Hensley. Mark Milazzo won the 125cc Expert TT fro m Kevin Oo ley and then le t Kirk J o hnson become a sandwich on the half-mile with Kevin first, in a photo finish , while teammate Kirk Smith, some what handicapped wit h a 10 0, th ird. Johnson d id n't fee l too bad, he had the 125 Amateur TT win to keep him warm with Brian Burch second and Kir k Smi th third. Brian Burch who rode with the Amateurs on the TT bu t is really a Novice may not be o ne much longer. By Andi Gangewer ELSINORE , CAL., AUG. 8 Duan e Gallager was the victor of 'th e 100·125 Novice class and he did it in grand style. Moto one Gal lager wheeled his Yam ah a into the lead and pulled away fro m the pack. Steve Griffith held second but Mark Ledbetter and Steve Karstan wanted a p iece ,of the action. Karstan made mad dash at Griffith an d Ledbetter and slid into second. The win went to Duane, Karstan carried second, leading Ledbetter in for third. Moto two Gallager again gained control of the race, while four riders were battling for second. Gallager made it' three in a row as he walked away wi th another win. Steve Griffith put the pressure on Gal lage r this fi al race, but Duane held n on to his lead with a vice grip. Gallager took first p lace points, leav ing secon d an d third to Griffith and Kar stan. T he b ig bore Expert wa s chicken fee d " fo r the o ne and on ly "T-Bone" Do n Grigsb y . Don Frauenberger carried the , beginning of the race, un til T · Bo n e • d ived un der to steal the lead. Rex Hailey co ntin ued to gain -o n Fraue nberger and moved into second. Rick Marquis took Frauenberger's third away and the checkered went to Grigsby, Hailey and Marquis. T-Bone was sizzling the second moto and the race was his from start to finish. The final moto it was all T-Bone again and in grand style he grand-slammed and overall victory. Don Frauenberger finally got the second he'd been working for, leaving Rick Marquis to th ird. The overall results ended up with Hailey second and Frauenberger third. Results in Results Se ction. .
