racing at Ontario Motor Speedway
Sunday.

De Lespinay, riding his home-built
"Garbage Can Special" (the trickest
"garbage can" we'll evef see), got o ff
the st ar ting grid th ird. Jeff Steele, on a
more conventional air cooled TA125
Yam aha. led, with Mike Velasco third
on a Kawasaki F7 made into a GP
machine. DeLespinay flew past Steele
on the back straigh t, trailed by Velasco,
who also passed Steele.
By the third lap, deLespinay had a
giant lea d, the n n the fo urth lap 'sat up
on th e straightaway in fro nt of the
grandstands, and waved Velasco and
Steele by:
