Moto one of th e 250 Am at eu r class was a A herd o f second m ot o mish aps and DN Fs ena bled Bobby J ones to beat Wedn esday night's fiel d of 125 Experts, even th ough he had sticky race. Jim Wright, an S&S Yam ah a rider, got the jump off the line but could barely hold on t o his lead. A three way b attle was raging up front as Wright, Llo y d Patz ke , and Duane Gallager bumped around figh ting for the lead. J im hung o n for three laps but Patzke pl ayed it smart and worried Wright right out of the lead. Patzke took the checkered with J im second and Duane Gallager third. Patzke pulled the ho leshot the second race with Gallager right behind. Duane pushed him eve ry inch of the way but there wasn't any ch ange in position an d Patzke again chalked up ~" iher win. ~chael !-!!:;;, ret;ent ly - out of a cas t, r~!lv~Gd in. fo r third . The final moto found Wright off the line and in th e lead but Patzke got around Jim when he went too wide. Mike Allen also made the mest of Wright's mistake and slipped into second. Gallager didn't want to be left out of the game, so he sewed up third. The overall outcome was Patzke first, Gallager second, and Allen third. Another group of 250s had a rip roaring time of it too. This time it was the Expert's tum to rais e the roof. Gary Smith and his But pulled way ahead of the other Experts for an easy win. Rich Yolk stole second and left Billy Hicks to third. Al Glover was the victor of the to push his bike acr oss the line to do- it ! Jones fi ished a full 15 seconds ah ead n o f runner-up Willy Simons. J one s held the same adva ntage th rough o u t t he secon d mo to , up until the last lap. Bobby 's engin e quit with less t han half a lap remaining, allow ing Bob Klin e to slip by with the mota w in. Simons had le ft th e track afte r only tw o laps , and sin ce Kline finished fifth in his first mota, Bobby pushed his bike acro ss the line to take th e overall win . J eff Airey, wh o ran second behind Sh awn, came back strong in the second mota to win the ove rall, Little' placed second while Mark Clark, garnered a much deserved third place. A wild ra ce with a wild finish was probably the best way to describe the 125 Beginner race. On the first lap , a collision which involved the runner-up of the first moto , Steve Vicnze, left Chip Hamrick, who had won the first moto, in the lead going into the second half of the race. Coming out again was a different story as he and the second place rider, Robbie Abernathy , tangled themselves in a knot that knocked them out of contention. Ken Crowder
