Winning both motos with ease Chandler's biggest threat from Dave Haugh never materialized. Haugh (Mai) was abou t the only rider capable of staying with Magoo. In the second moto Haugh c au gh t up with Magoo only to have his gas cap falloff. To avoid being soaked in gasoline. he pulled off the track to replace the cap. Haugh reentered and cried to m ake up for lost time. In his effort to gain. Haugh put in some really forceful riding, winding up with third overall With wh at is becoming a common place occurance in the 125 junior class, Doug Spiker (Hon) took a first overall. The second moto really reflected Spiker's riding ability. while running second to Allen Sine (Yam) he over-extended himself and went do wn . By the time he got back into the race he had d ropped quite a number of positions. Spiker really hauled catching up an d passing Walker (Hon), then Clai re (Suz) and finally second p lace Phelps. With only a few laps remaining Spiker passed Sine. taking a very well deserved win. CT Industries is becoming more of a threat in the 125 Pro class. Evan Marcus took his well prepared CT Ho nda to a first overall The closest the rest of the riders had come to Marcus was before the drop of the gate. When the gate fell Marcus wheeled into the lead in both motos. Craig Cole (Hon) was a very impressive second overall. • lires, the only thing between you and the cold hard ground! Other dear old dads hung in there. like Asker Larkenjaer for a respectable fourth in the largest 125 Beginner class . Local lads Tim Tope and Doug Sh ane wrappe d up the 125 Novices with a first an d a second each but T ope took the Grand Prix brass after the best ride in the last moto. Fred Presson waited in vain for Don May to make a mistake in Open Novice competition. GI Cliff Price earned his transfer to Novice with two 111'Sts in 250 Beginner competition. leaving the big battle for second between Bill Rice an d jeff Rodriquez. Randy Yetto rode a hard third behind the Hemme Bros. in Minibike Novice events. Fred Griego took 50% of the 250 Expert cash in a tie with Karl Wilson for firs t. Bill Sundstrom and Steve Davis rode a close 125 Expert race. each at taining a 111'St and a sec o nd . It was Davis ' sec ond in the last moto that gave • Bill t he mos t cash.
