Stackable outdueled Eierstedt for third
and set sights on Pierre who had a
pretty good lead in second.
DiStefano 's good luck failed him with
less than two laps to go as he bit the dirt
halfway up the appropriately named
"Screw U, " a sheer drop downhill
combined with an immediate steep
uphill. Karsmakers, Stackable, Eierstedt
and Howerton flew by as Tony
struggled first to start his bike and then
to get up the steep incline from his
halfway position. The excitement
started as the race changed complexion
with Stack probing Pierre for a weak
spot and Pierre shutting the door on his
charges, one after another. Into the
valley and speeding along the whoop-de
power straight Pierre pulled out a 100
foot lead before the duo dissappeared
into the tree obscured twisties. Pierre
still held the lea d as the apir emerged
with Stack closing. It was Stackable
alone cresting the uphill from the valley
with Pierre crashing at the bottom, but
quickly back in second. Eierstedt ran
third and then Tony fourth when
Howerton's Husky picked a very
inopportune moment to throw its chain.
Terry Clark and Chuck Sun followed a
ways back to the checkers.
