The . 16 stan ds , full to overflowing with "free" spe ctators holding Superbowl ticket stubs. watched Mike Bell and Dave Carlson put away the other riders. To the cro wd s expectations, 125 Pro Dave Carlson (FMF) set the stage early in the eve ning by totally dominating the first mota. Mark Tyer (lion), Vince Van Hook (lion) an d Ji m Do mann (lion) pushed their leader , b ut ended up battling among the mselves for the next two positions. Mo to o ne results: Carlson, Tyer and VanHook. The top three spots in mota two ended with the exa ct order of results as mota o ne . This gave Carlson a 1-1 tally and first overall. Tyer 2·2 and VanHook 3-3 for the eve ning. Best races of the ni ght clearly were the two 250 rnotos. Alan Bassett (lIus) , Morris Malone (lI us ). Mike Sterns (IIus), Mike Bell (lI us ), Mark Tyer (Suz) and the pa ck were all shooting for the "top dollar". Bell was the front runner in mota one with T yer making moves to pass. At the flag. Bell outlasted Tyer and the Husky of Malone collected third. The holeshot in - moto two action went to the super fast RM of Mark Tyer. lie led for four of the six laps until Bell pushed inside of Tyer on the IT jump. Bell won the rnoto alo ng with overall poin IS. Tyer was second, Alan Basset third. Only four riders were competing in the 500 Pros and Mike Bell rode his 440 Honda to wins in each go.
