They finished th e moto in that order, giving J ennings the o verall win , Jones second and Simons third. The 125 No vices resembled a kamakazi practice session in the first moto. Four d ifferent riders led th e six-lap race , only to fall back in th e pack soon afterwards. Honda mounted Kurt Headlund, th e fourth such rider, managed to climb back on top of the p ack by the time the checkered flag fell. Kurt was also in fro nt at the start of the second moto, this time to stay. In the third moto, David Wilson put . everything he , had in to the first turn, and kept his Yarnmy screamin ' to the dropoff where he got a little out of shape on his take-off. He didn't lose his position, but he dropped about half of the lead he had held over Headlund, Kurt passed him later that same lap on the way to his overall win. Butch Roberts, with a 3-4-6 finish collected second overall with Bob Vasichek in third. Bad, "Big-Mouthed" Bill won the first mota wi th room to spare, after entering the ra ce in last place . But from the second moto o n , it was all downhill. The second moto co uld have been all his also, except he for got to suck on his trusty bottle of Geritol before heading for th e starting lin e. Cole vs Cole 'at AME MX By Teel Titmas VALENCIA, CAL ., JULY 11 The 500 Pro class made Indian Dunes' Sh adow Glen course the site of some great riding and super action . All th e riders were really 14 putting out, but Donny Hansen (Yam) stole the show. Donny took the lead as soon as the ,gate dropped, Jim 0 'Neal (Mai ) followed Hansen in second, exhibiting excellent form, making it tough on third pl ace rid er Dave Haugh (Mai ). Tom Claire (Suz) worked hard at passing Haugh while Tom Webb (Mai) tried desperately to take over Clarie 's fourth position. As Webb attempted to pass Cla ire he chanced a move that ' caused , both riders to tumble. Claire managed to pick himself up but Webb was unable to re -enter the race, his handlebars bent and useless. Haugh exhibited some of his number one p late fo rm as he passed Jim O'Neal. Hansen took his first p lace right to the finish line for a first overall. Haugh finis hed second overall and Mark White (H us), playing it cool, finished third. The 125 Pro class turned in to a family affair as brothers Eddie and Craig Co le took home firs t and second place victories. Jim Hale (Hon) was back in the competition after a few months vacation, adding to the action. Eddie Cole was flying o n his Imely prepared Bultaco and won the first moto, However, in the next moto Eddie's younger brother Craig, who rides a Honda, grabbed the holeshot, Superfast
