The first tum of the first lap of the first race provided a spectacular pile o f and m ach iner y , which, , riden fortunately, didn't break any necks, but was a preview of coming attractions. The Handicap heat racing was marred with restarts and crunches but finally the transferring riders were sorted out. At Main Event time, last week's winner Tom Ferris faced the usual hot dogs Jack Martin and Grant Salyers, plus a regular spoiler, Mark Smith and two surprisingly improved new riders: Mark Tracy and Jeff Peltier. Tracy got the holeshot, and held off the en tire field for three laps until he lost it in turn three. The whole field swept by with Jack Martin in for the win followed by Salyers and Ferris. In challenger racing Dave Baker again outlasted the crash and burn bunch for his third win of the season. Scratch racing was a little more civilized. The new fearsome threesome of Tom Morley, Lo uis Lindwall and Tom Ferris were on h and to lay it on Jack Martin. It was a classic speedway eve nt as it was anybody's race u n t il lap three. At that point Ferri. and Martin bro ke fro m the pack and it was wheel to wheel until Ferris did n ' t get quite the drive he needed out of turn two and Martin edged him on the outside. Ferris stayed on the pole, but Martin had too' much speed by then and he took it by a length. • I SOUND GOOD? . .For more info rmation see your closest BULTACO dealer But HURRY, th is offer is for a limited t ime only. * ,--_---:_ - - - - - - - - --------. * See Team Bultaco at the Oly Superbowl of Motocross Saturday, July 24th -LA Coloseum BUDDHA enterprises thr Wes t'5 most aggressive dealer I • ~ ~~- Fly FREE to Southern California Th~t's Right!
