Red hot Honda
heat wave
By Mi ke Yada
CARLSBAD, CAL., JUNE 27
Playing the game of Monopoly
involves more than just skill at
throwing dice, one must also be
thoughtful in each and every step
along the way; which, in the lon g run,
may tum in to great leaps and bo unds.
Obviously, Mr. Honda had more than
just a hot hand, as he now sits atop the
big berm in Millionaire Acres. The
Honda Monopoly could easily be seen in
today's Flying Machine Factory sweep
of the 125 Pro class, as Alan Smith
(an o th erl ) proved to be the king of the
hill . In the meantime, Honda's own
Rich Eierstedt reeled in both the 250
and 500 Pro class winnings aboard trick
RC's. The recent summer heat wave
finally topped the big 100 mark.. but
that didn't stop the red machines from
roosting (roasting?) away with the big
wins.
TNF's Val Tamietti (Mai) got the day
off to a big bang as he led the opening
laps of the 500 Pros, heading the pack
of Eierstedt, Bob Maxwell (Bul), and
another Eierstedt by the name of Jeff
seated on a Bul. Tamietti soon lost his
chain on the long bumpy uphill,
dropping his chances for the day.
Eierstedt con tin ued his blaze through
the heat and stretched out a tremendous
lead.
