Les was loo king and racing good. but after chasing Chuck Sun an d Rick Burgett around for two years he was sure that he was going to catch Les. You le arn a lot chasing people . In th e Open Pros it was Mark and Les at it again with Gregson taking the win. In the 12 5 class, Mark Gregso n was set to take a triple win, but his Kaw spit its chain off and th at left a win for Ron Sun, on his ' Yamaha. The third Sun brother Kenny took a third in 125 junior on a Yamaha. In the first moto of the 125A group . the first three leaders crashed. two of them on the new drop off section of the track. Fergusen took the win as did Ken Eggers in the following Semi . When the Handicap Main rolled around, the crowd saw Fari a, Fergusen and Eggers all go down in the first corner. dust in the lead. Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor awarded Faria a year's supply of free ice cream . Mike Faria won the first Scratch Semi followed by Marty Benck. Benck just squirmed through a collision involving Charley Morse and Mike Rooney. which left Morse shaken up. but okay. Rollin ' Rich MacMurray led his Semi wire to wire. with Dennis Robin son in h ot pursuit. An unhappy Robinson was exc used from the Scratch Main when the tape was snagged by his front wh eel. Ro llin ' RiCh jumped in to the lead followed by Faria an d Benck. Benck got off while trying to zero in on Faria as MacMurray roll ed on to win . CAL.,j UNE 13 Gerald Junior Expert second Goodwin, in his first 125 race, moving up from in the Mini class, was in his first rnoto, and was leading in the second when he fell. Reports are that he is onl y sligh t1y injured and will be racing at the next outing. In the 125 Expert race. Kenny Roush had a I: 20 lap, which I think is a record for the track at the distance it was laid out for . He won both mot os easily.
