Dennis Sigal as showed everybody th at his eye's fmc as he won his Handicap heat; Bruce Penhall and Bo bby Sch wanz turned in sterling p er formances also. The big surprise was Billy Gray who took the ou tside lin e and the le ad to win his heat over Steve Colu m bo and (get this!) Mike Bast. Gray later go t his in the Semi as he ro de sec o nd to Ro n Prest o n , again on the outside, then got blown away in the tum by Penhall and Bas t. The Se con d Division was a sh ow of its own . The first hea t saw Louis Lin dwall put in a First Divisi on quality ride as he alm ost lap p ed the fie ld. The second hea t h ad Wayne Ishii who lat er . won an intc:nnission match race over Mike Bast!) and eventual Sec o n d Divis ion Main winner Larry Ko sta . Alan Christian grab bed th~ Handicap Consolation , but was very hard p ressed for the win as BiIly Gray was only a hair's breadth ' behind him. In the Handicap Main , Dennis Sigalo s held off strong sliding Bru ce Penhall to win hands down and eyes open.
