On March 7, 1976,Goodyear racing slicks outraced the pack on Johnny Cecotto's Yamaha at the Daytona 200. The talented Venezuelan pushed them to a new record average speed of lOS.no mph on the asphalt tri-oval. Gary Nixon and Pat Hennen, the 2ndand 3rd-place winners, also flew home on Goodyear slicks. Earlier, Kenny Roberts earned the - Daytona 200 pole position on our slicks, setting a new track record speed of 111.546 mph. . . On May 16, 1976"a special Goodyear dirt track racing tire made its debut in San Jose, California. Again, a new track record was set on our racing tires, as Rex Beauchamp won his second straight San Jose Mile National by one bike length.
