By Judy Kinn am an ~ Larry Roeseler swept . into the finish of the Stumpjumpers Hare and Hound to take first overall, with Bruce Ogilvie (H-D) hot on his heels. Bob Rutten who finishe d third on his new Husky, said it reminded him of the old trailbike clays. Rutten did very well, considering he had no front brake on the last loop . Roeseler and Ogilvie had a real battle going throughou t the . race, with Ogilvie pushing but never quite catching Roeseler, At the end of the first loop. Rutten was running fifth. but he man~ed to get past Brent Wallingsford and Bob Masse y (CZ). (Yam) somewhere on the second loop to take third overall. Massey came into the finish fifth overall and captured the first Open Expert position. Howard McCasland (Hus) took second followed by Jim Sumners (Yam). Jody Belknap (Hus) flew into the finish to take eighth and first Amateur, J.C. Ray (Yam) took second Am ateur and first Open Amateur. Blasting in to the finish tenth overall, taking the honors for the Trailbike class, was Charlie Hamill. Jr. :KT M). with a four bike lead on Chuck Cartledge (LTY). Twenty-three bikes later. the third Expert Trailbike finished, ridden by Joe Lockhart (KTM) . Steve lindsey (KTM) took the first C bike Expert. and the first Trailbike Expert went to Mike Kenney on a Yamaha. Dawn Grant (Hus) won the Women's Division. Trudy Beck (KTM) dropped out of the race after an early flat tire. Kathy Smith (Han) took the first Novice victory . The race started at 9: 00 a.m, for the Amateurs and Experts and the banner dropped for the Novices as soon as the dust cleared. All classes completed the two 40 mile loops, except the Beginners. who rode only the first. • Resul ts in Results Section. .
