Dan ny Peek of Lakewood on a Yamah a p ulled off an overall in the 80cc Novice class. Dan ny ra n a smooth two motos for the first overall with Mark Gilseth coming in second. The 125 Novice class had a fine t urnout (44) had p len ty of co mpetitio n as ea ch rider fe It he had a chance for th e ove rall. The racing was superb as all the riders went for it. There can o nly be on e winner, however, and Steve Kolias of Aurora was it. Steve ran two fine motos to take the overall as Bret Mar ick of Cheyenne, Wyo ming foll owed close by in the second spot. I The 125 Expert race was, as it turned o u t , up for grabs. Albert Firestine motored away. in the first m o to, as his on ly competitio n, Stacy Sm ith, suffered fro m th rot tle problems. Firestine ran 'a gre at first m o to to really walk. The second mo to was a different story. Firestine was in the lead with no Smith to fo llow (mechanical pro blems) and was mo torin g away when he did the unpardonab le - he came off. Gary Duncan, who had popped to the top off the scratch only to be passed by Firestin e took over firs t overall. It was a good ride and Duncan ea rned the win. Gary Glasenapp put on his r'!Fe face for th e 250 A class and even though he didn't pull an outrigh t win in either m o to, did well enough to take the ove rall with J ack Todd of Little ton wielding his Maico to the No . two spot. Stacy Smith would have ma de it a little tougher fo r Glase nap p as he came off the line on his Maico in first spo t . One problem ...:. he came off hard on an off camber tu m and hurt his elbow and leg. We all ho p e that it was not to o serious and that Smith will be in the lineup again soon . Todd came on, in the Open class . to take it with a smooth to first overall. Mark Poindexter on his Yamaha fo llo we d in for the secon d overall. '.
