THE Las Vegas, Nevada RECORD _--:..;Ap-ril 25, 1976 TIBBLIN AND JOHNSON CON~UER MEANEST MINT EVER! BAKKEN ROESELER TAKE SECOND ·T O COMPLETE HUSKY SWEEP! The go od news was that they ran the bikes separately from the cars in this year's MINT 400. The bad news for most riders was the co urse - DNFCity. 412 miles of high winds, blowing sand, rock-obscuring silt, and terrain severe enough to humble even the best prepared bodies and machines. . Mitch Mayes was an early casulaty - the great Husky rider crashed in practice on Saturday breaking his collarbone again. Mitch was to have teamed with A.C. Bakken. Larry Roeseler switched over to ride with A.C. and .Rolf Tibblin joined forces with Jack Johnson, a former MINT winner himself. Mitch's Saturday crash left his 360CR Husky with a bent frame. With no time for replacement, Husky wrench Dean Goldsmith bent it back into shape and crossed his fingers. Rolf and Jack rode this bike to First Overall on Sunday despite conditions that caused all but 17 of the 97 starters to pack it in early. A.C. and Larry took Second Overall on their Husky 360CR. Both machines were absolutely Box Stock except for shocks. Still think we're kidding when we say that Husqvama builds bikes ready-to-race - and ready-to-win? Team Husqvama wishes to thank all our fans and friends who helped make this outstanding victory possible - and thank you Charlie Curnutt for those outasight shocks! varna Husqvarna Moto rcycle Co..
