Taylor memorial On April 25. 1976, the family of desert racers lost a member and I lost the best friend I ever had. .John Taylor wa s fat ally injured whil e riding th e first loop of the Semi Valley M.C. Hare 'n Hound. J ohn was a member o f the Che ck ers :\I.C. and one o f th e co -orga nizers of SRA. His efforts in forming and de vel oping a racin g enviro n me n t for the family gro up was a major co n tri b ution to deser t motorcy cle rid ing . ' After leaving S RA he re tu rned to de sert racing wh ich was h is gre at interest. His fa m ily has set up a scho larship fund to help young men with a techni cal education. I was really disappointed when I read the pie ce abou t the Central California riders who went to the Pell City Alabama 2 Day Trial and won gold medals. You left o ut Mike McGowan's name. So far Mik e has ridden three events and re ce ived three go ld medals. He is riding for Rotary Cucles on a 125 cc Hercules 7·sp ee d.
