Suzuki R&D 's Bob Elliott took his
RM mounts to top s in both 125
and 250 Pro bike bashes at AMC's
$1,000 cash cross . And bike bash
20
was the word for the action while the
world famous banzai down hill was in
use . With Jeff Foland, Bill Rubly, and
Jon Derhammer all sidelined after a
serious tangle up Chuck Lunde took an
easy Open Pro win topping out Don
Martin (Suz) who finished second.
Righ t after the gate dropped starting
the first 125 moto D&G's Broc Glover
pulled the pack . into the first turn,
Warren Reid (FM) and Dave Williams
(MM) were running side -by -side down
Banzai Hill. Just minutes later Reid's
foot slipped off his foot peg injuring his
ankle and setting him to the sideline.
D&G's Dave Ta ylor dropped out of the
race after losing his pipe. As Marty
Moates (Hon ) and Jeff Jennings (Suz)
pulled into the second and third
positions Dave Carlson 'was slowed up
by a broken foot peg and Williams'
Suzuki started to seize. By the flutter of
the checkers Bob Elliott pulled into
fourth .
Dave Taylor showed the pack into
the first turn of the second moto while
Elliott, Glover, Carlson, and Jennings,
separated from the mid-packers. As the
race progressed , Elliott and Glover slipped out in front and battled for th e
win u ntil Glover seized, allowing Elliott
to smoke the second moto, Dave Taylor
held off a very hard charge from
Jennings, to give Dave second place for
the moto. Moates, Williams, and Carlson
finishing up the top six.
Elliott 's 250 Pro win came much
easier as he ran away with both motos.
Jeff Jennings 100 ked like a sure winner
until he overshot a turn sending him
thro ugh a woode n fenc e. Dave Carlson
rode his Co mpetition Cycles Maico to a
second overall while Morris Malone
wen t 4-3 on his Premier Cycle Suzuki.
