And bike bash 20 was the word for the action while the world famous banzai down hill was in use . With Jeff Foland, Bill Rubly, and Jon Derhammer all sidelined after a serious tangle up Chuck Lunde took an easy Open Pro win topping out Don Martin (Suz) who finished second. Righ t after the gate dropped starting the first 125 moto D&G's Broc Glover pulled the pack . into the first turn, Warren Reid (FM) and Dave Williams (MM) were running side -by -side down Banzai Hill. Just minutes later Reid's foot slipped off his foot peg injuring his ankle and setting him to the sideline. D&G's Dave Ta ylor dropped out of the race after losing his pipe. As Marty Moates (Hon ) and Jeff Jennings (Suz) pulled into the second and third positions Dave Carlson 'was slowed up by a broken foot peg and Williams' Suzuki started to seize. By the flutter of the checkers Bob Elliott pulled into fourth . Dave Taylor showed the pack into the first turn of the second moto while Elliott, Glover, Carlson, and Jennings, separated from the mid-packers. As the race progressed , Elliott and Glover slipped out in front and battled for th e win u ntil Glover seized, allowing Elliott to smoke the second moto, Dave Taylor held off a very hard charge from Jennings, to give Dave second place for the moto. Moates, Williams, and Carlson finishing up the top six. Elliott 's 250 Pro win came much easier as he ran away with both motos. Jeff Jennings 100 ked like a sure winner until he overshot a turn sending him thro ugh a woode n fenc e. Dave Carlson rode his Co mpetition Cycles Maico to a second overall while Morris Malone wen t 4-3 on his Premier Cycle Suzuki. • Results in Results Section. I Saddleback sizzler By Joel Jamieson IRVINE, CAL., MA Y 2 DG Performance's head honcho, Gary Harlow, must be one happy guy. His DG race team put toge ther a superb showing today, taking' 1-2 in the 125 · Pros along with the 250 Pro win. Gary's son, Kevin , nabbed second 125 Intermediate I after a su per first moto victory.
