Of the three Boise riders in the Novic e Main , Denny Lee was the only one in th e top five in fourth place . Gross ended up sixth with Bill Cook righ t be hind him. Eddie Lawson (Bull from ac ross th e river (On t ar io, Oregon dialed it on fast and smooth fo r the win. Fin all y , the Expert Main, and Paul Bostrom j u m ped right out in to first. Big Randy Skiver had his ride end hard and drop ped o ut hurting. Sonny Burres sta rted off well but dropped back to fini sh fifth . Li ttle J ohn just kep m otoring around and, when Randy Scott fell , in herite d second. Ed Herrman n t o o k third and Ste ve Eklu nd co p p ed a fou rth. Bostrom 's wi n was the fi rst at Boise for a Harl ey ride r in q uite a few years.
