Pros to Valle y Cycle Park . Bob Hannah, Billy Grossi, Will Harper, Kenny Zahrt and Greg Robertson caused so me of th e local r iders to imagine they were attendin g a national. Bob Hannah has to be on e of the most exciting riders t o watch, even if you know nothing ab o ut motocross. His exceptional riding tal ent was evident in the last moto of the 125 Pro class. As the gate dropped Hannah (Yam) was left at the starting line with a stalled engine placing him dead last as Kenny Zahrt (Hon) and Greg Robertson (C-A) blasted off into the lead. A few laps later Robertson passed Zahrt and began stretching out his lead. As the race for the lead continued between Robertson, Zahrt and now Bobby Kline (Hon), spectators were drawn to Hannah 's remarkable progress as he moved up through the p ack. Hannah 's talent for changing lines without hitting a bump, coupled with his incredible speed, Icnab led him to finally pass Robertson for a last moto win. At the start of the second moto Zahrt again grabbed the holeshot. However, Robertson, who was determined to win, 'p assed Zahrt after the firs t few laps. Hannah once again began to move up through th e pack and advanced to 'Zahrt. When Hannah fin ally passed Kenny, Robert son had b uilt quit e a stro ng lead, giving him th e m oto win, and the o verall cash . Hannah took second, Zahrt third. The 250 Pro class wa s eq ually as exciting. Hannah 's bigges t su rp rise came not from Billy Grossi, bu t fr om Cole Bros. sponsored Will Harper (Mai) . Harper held do wn th e lead for half the race with repeated attempts by Hannah to pass. Soon a fte r th e hal fw ay mar k Hannah succeeded in p assing Harper but was unab le to sha ke h im off. Grossi too k over the lea d an d the moto- win, ending wi th t hird overall. Hannah garnered a sec on d an d first o verall, Harper reigned second overall.
