I rr Lakewood Easter egg hunt By Action OZ LAKE WOO D, CO. , APRI L 18 Today was devoted to fam ilies at the Sp ortcycle rid ing areas in Lakewood. Closed to all oth er fo rms o f riding because of an event called Easter Egg hunting. The name o f the game was reall y ro c ks wh ich had been sprayed different colors by club members ear lie r th at da y. The object was to collec t as many of these co lo red rocks as possible without leaving yo ur m o to rcy cle , that is at least so m e part of the body had to be to uching th e bike at all times, 'while pic king uP. rocks or on e of the t hree dozen eggs th at were hidden within the 80 acres of the park. b The even t was run on a points system with a raw egg totaling 40 points, a red p ainted ro ck 30 points, a y ello w 20 and a wh ite one 10 points. ~ Some of the situations involving the bringing back of raw eggs were super. Such as the case of one young lad who inad e it all th e way back only to find that the egg .had other ideas , it decided to become free within th e lad 's poeket. ~ He got the 40 points. The win ning individual was Kevin Ecklen on a new Hodaka. Kevin was very systematic and precise in using the alloted hour. The winning family was the William Dinges group and they as ~ Il ap plied all 60 minutes in well o rganized picking. j':veryone had a gr eat time and nearly all got a trophy and or a gift certificate fo r their labors. • I Evans sweeps P-20 Experts By DeWitt Henderson CAMERON, TEX., APRIL 11 Henry Evans of Austin was obviously th e fastest rider present ou t o f a total of ab ou t 100 District 20 rid ers at Centex Moto cross Par k , as he swep t to both moto wins in th e 250-Open Expert Combined class . Addre s s )J ri des with sec o nd place cash going to Bobby Guidry (3 -2 ) as Ro bert Na dasi (5-4 ) and Randy Williams (4 -5) ru lin g in the t op fo urs . • Open 125 J. , he took the lead afte r a co uple uf lap s and won handily. Bryan Briggs (Yam) put his 25 0 in to th ird pl ace earl y in the race an d held it. David Wallace (Hus) took fourt h when th e Round Rock Rocket, Milt on West , dro ppe d .his YZ4 00. In the second m o ro, the order was iden t ical except Wes t switched positions wi th Wall ace. Pat Ada mso n of Killeen, alw ay s a fas t rider on a Yamaha , wa s aboard a n ew Hon da today ' and won th e 125 Expert class aft er a wild first mo to , Ada mson ll"'bbed the lea d from Robby Hemlund (Ya m) af ter a short wh ile an d looked to be an easy winner. But Cameron's Ed die Coker (Ho n) moved up and p assed Ad amso n . Ad am so n stayed right on h im and attemp te d .to repass, and th e two collide d o ff o f a dropoff and laid 'em do wn . David Hewitt to ok adva ntage of th e situation and put his Yamaha into the lead, which he held un til th e en d of th e moto, fo llowed in closely by Hernlund. Meanwhile, Ad amson an d Coker go t up and restarted ab o u t the same time and took off the sa me d istance ap ar t . The y collide d again and both of them went down. This time Adams on got up quicker and to ok third place over fo urt h place man Coker. Ada mso n wo n the second moto, with Co ker secon d , Hewitt third an d Hemlund fourth. Adamson 's 3-1 too k th e overal l ove r Hewitt's 1·3 and Coker 's 4- 2. , 125 Intermediate action was fierce . Bill Harrison [Hon] go t a holeshot to start the firs t moto, and tried hard to pull out a bi g lead . David Dicorte (Yam) had other ideas, however, and n ever let .Harriso n get t oo far out of "reach . Dicorte tried to make his move several times , but Harrison held in there for the win . Dico rte took second over a fast Mik e Maloney (Ho n ) of Round Roc k. Dicorte took the lead in the second moto, but this time Harrison fell in the third comer from the start and started off in last pl ace. Harrison put on a good ch arge , which netted him a fifth, but Dicorte took the moto win an d ' the overall. Mark Elliott took second this time, givin g him sec o nd overall. Billy Harrison's bad lu ck in the 125 Intermediate class didn't show up for him in the 250 Intermediates. Wayne Eskew (Hon) took the first moto, with Harrison close behind on a ratty ru nning Bul. David Oliver (Hus ) took third, fo llo wed by anothe r Husky, Barry Billin gton of Waco. Harrison go t the bugs ou t of h is Bul for th e second mo to and won in a runaw ay. Eske w looped it off a d ro poff and dropped to seventhpl ace for th e moto , whic h netted him a fo ur th overa ll.
