2}...-.-0'-Twice' the 'Buy NORTHERN DATELINE Rain drowns Sears Point race By Denys Arcuri SEARS POINT, CAL., APRIL 11 A spirited debate over the merits of racing in a drizzling rain was abruptly ended by a' heavy downpour at Sunday's AFM road race at Sears Poin t. The Open GP race had been red-flagged after on ly two laps, due to the fact that about half the field had slid off the " track and Rudy Galind o 's bike was on fire in tum two . Jack Baker, who led the race until he crashed on tum seven, was awarded the victory. Baker argued against further racing, even though it wo uld co st hi m his first pl ace points, since he felt the tr ack was too da ngero us because of the combination of drizzle and ' oil left on the track from an autocross held Saturday. "(Expletive) the points!" was , the way J ack p u t it . The rain also ru ined the day for Bob Tigert who had won his heat o f 4 10 Production, and the Featherweight race on ' a "box stock" Can Am 175 motocrosser. Scott Pearson won the only other race run, the other 410 Product ion heat, on his S-3 Kaw.
