JOIN THE WINNERS WHO RELY ON Phil Oveland brought out a rarified CZ o ut of the old Charley Brown stables and whizzed the Division II Open Novice class with style and grace while old man Bob Towery did it in the Division lover Mark Halcomb and Tom Pries. Dan Leet led off the first moto of Open Experts but was done in by Self o n the second lap. Dave Longcor moved by on the next lap and ran the distance in that o rder with Chris Grewer in for fourth. In the secon d moto Self didn't bother with foo ling around, he copped the lead and the win over Lo ngcor. • Res ults in Res ults Section. Garrett, Kusanovick win fat Dunlap By Duane Garrett DUNLAP , CAL, MAR. 21 The most com petitive race of the day was the 125 Pro/Interm ediate combined. Mike Montgomery (Yam), pulled the plug in the first moto fo llo wed closely by "Ken n y G uilbut (Bus) and J ack Keese (Yam) . The battle was on as each of these three riders got a chance to lead "the race at one ti me or another. Keese was able to break free about m id wa y through the moto and it looked as if he wa s on his way to the finish line when for some reason he dropped back to second. This was a lu cky break for Montgomery who took over the lead and pulled in for the win. After Keese the next '\.CTO SS the finish line was In termediate rider Kevin Phillips (Bul). Phillips had to work his way up through the entire pack of 12 5 Pros as the Intermediates were required to start the race with a 30 second disadvantage. The second moto of the 125 Pros was a co m plete turnabout as all t he riders that did good in the first m o t o did po orly in the second. Steve Ku san ovick (Hus ) after starting slow in the first moto won the second moto . Due to the poo r finishes of the other riders, Kusanovick took the overall. Mike Barnett (Hon) was secon d behind Kusanovic k and with his 4-2 . per formance was awarded th u d o verall. Milan Garr ett (Mon) h ad ' n o trouble winning both mo t e s of the 250 Pro /Intermediate race. Clarence Derri ck n (Bul) fi ished the day second ove rall wi th Bill Keese not far behind in th ird.
