R·e d6ll d o Beach : CA 90278 Tim Bowman (400 CZ) led the entire 80 miles of DRA's Silver Bear point-to-point Hare and Hound, a win worth $380 in purse and contingency money. Bowman was first to the bomb, followed by Tom Brooks (250 KTM). Tom's brother Cordis (350 Bul] passed him in the fast stuff just past the bomb, but 20 miles had not gone by before Cordis' transmission quit. Tom Brooks passed Bowman briefly in the pits, after he overshot his own pit. Bowman had a trouble-free ride with the only excitement coming when he hit a road crossing fast enough to see spectators whizzing by underneath his fee t. No crash, though. Tom finished wi th a 40-second lead over Broo ks, completing the race in one hour and 33 minutes. Brooks was in next for second, first 250 . Then came Morgan Malo cco (400 Yam) who hit a roller too hard and slammed hi. ch in on the crossbar, with his plastic faceguard tearing skin off th e aforem en tioned ch in . Doug Winchell had been on t he far side of the start lin e, as had Malocco, bu t Doug didn't get a gre at start .
