I In t he bordertown of Ft. Sm ith, where shootouts are a matter o f hist ory. the guy s from Oklahoma took home th e bi ggest bags o f loot. The clash be t wee n Ark an san Tony Wynn , tuning up befo re joinin g the Flor ida series, and T rey .Jorsk i. the fastest Okie of them all, was almost excitin g as an t ici pated . Jorski showed up with three weapons, o n e for each class. Wynn was strictly a two-gun sty list with tw o Rl\ls 125 and 370 ca libers . In th e opening 125 Expert moto , Tony an d Trey pl ayed nip and tu ck . By the end o f t he first lap , the pair had pulled awa y from the p ack an d traded the lead back and fo urt h until the co il o n J orski 's Husky failed. Wynn coasted in for a vic tory in th e fir st big battle o f the day. With J o rski o u t o f the 125cc battle for first, Wynn to ok quick co m mand in the second moto , but his mount also failed him halfway through the race when a rod bearing went o ut under the fra n t ic pres sure . Billy Hatfield, wh o had finished third in th e first m o t o , saw his chance and made it goo d fo r a win and first over all. Craig J ohnson, with second place finish es in bo t h m ot os, cli nched overall ahe ad of Gle nn secon d Snedecker an d Donny Weast. It was J o rski's tum to win the 250cc Expert co nte st . But not be fore losing the firs t moto to speedy Bobby McDaniel. J orsk i' s fuel line popped off twice, but he berserked past th e entire field with McDaniel in his sights at the flag. In th e fin al 250 mo to , J orski got the hol esh o t and kept th e lea d to th e flag. the me antime, McDaniel was In Tony Wynn, the fly ing farme r from Big Flat, lost small and won big.
