Glen Urquhart got t he h oleshot in the first moto an d began pulling away despite efforts by Be Koch to m atch Urquhart's pace. Koch wa s running a safe sec o nd as Barry Duncan an d Mike Wharton battled for third. The moto ended wi t h Urq uhart way out front trailed by Koch in seco nd as Wharton edged Duncan fo r third. Ko ch took th e lead in th e second moto an d st ar ted pu lling away at a very rap id p ace in efforts to be tter his first moto finish. Glen Urquhart dro pped out early with a bro ken fork leg leaving second p lace fo r the battling duo of Duncan and Wharton. Koch was never challenged for the lead as Duncan passed Wharton for sec o nd place only to be repassed o n the last lap, Koch (2,1) took the overall win followed by Wharton (3,2) . Duncan (4.3) and Peter Goo lishan (5,4). With most of Houston's top 250 Expert talent on the starting line. a victory in todays race would be well earned. Young Greg Howard powered his quick Can-Am into an early lead leaving little doubt to his frequent flashes of talent as he and second place Bo Koch wheelied away from the pack. Howard was untouchable in winning the moto as Koch secured second with R andy ' Cho ate leading Phillip Yarabrough and the p ack across the fi nish line . i , Determined to improve his sixth place in the first moto, Tracy Knighton bezerked his way into the lead of the second moto , Knighton turned in a rare display of his true talent in route to victory as he qu ickly put distance o n p lace Ph illip Yar ab rough. second Yarabro ugh maintained position to fin ish second ahead o f Bo Koch and Greg Howard as they battled for th ird. Koch edged Howard across t he fin ish line to win first overall as Howard (1.4l slipped to sec ond.
