Pickard,Priddy invade Whitney By Dave Nielsen WHITNEY, TEX., DEC. 28 The monthly mo tocross and pit race r field da y rolled on to day at Lake Whitney Cycle Ran ch, and th e odors of new, Christrnastime 20 leather an d m achinery wafted in th e unseasonabl y warm air. Throw in good tr ack conditions and 285 entries b o ogi ed to the rh ythm of shoc k-pou nd ing wh oops and banging shi f t levers . Despite challengers fro m several flanks, m o st of th e $1 ,00 8 allo ca te d to the Expert ranks was picked up b y Fo rt Wo rth area rid ers Bob b y Pickard, Wyman Priddy , and Rick y Kidd. O klahoma MX ch amp Tre y J orski was unable to bette r hi s t hird pl ace in the Open class, as Pickard (Pen) and Kidd (Hus ) ran 1-2 bo th motos.Jorski (Kaw) also m anaged to drop out of the 2 50 fir st moto w hile runnin g second. Philip Newman go t a bad st ar t, b u t worked his way u p to seco nd at the fin ish. Ne w man was leading the second moto with J im Montgomery close behind. Montgomery p assed Newm an on the last lap to t ake fi rst , b u t Newman was first ov eral l wi th a 2-2. Gary Witt was out wi th th e flu and was a spectator today .
