Odekirk, a Junior, had entered the 125 and Open classes which were both running 30 minute motos due to the light rider turnout. Tom took third in the 125 class on the Conway Yamaha. Moun ted on a Kaw 400 he failed to do as well in the Open, as the sandy track had taken its toll on his body. • Jorgy takes 2505 at S.O.H.V.P. First of all, Rick Delong was there an d didn't win. Before practice, father, Carl decided to not run the Noguchi and instead Rick would team with Neal Nelson. After th e comp letio n of just two laps, it was no Neal Nelson and so Rick started chasing o n the not-so-good motor. Th e Schaa boys were firmly in control with Kirk Hoeppner taking second from Ron Travis. On lap six Delong unl apped himself o nce and was charging fo r th e seco nd unlap on number 16 . Then, while running fourth and ready to undo every th ing , he 'lo st his chain in a muddle and missed the last lap in whi ch he just might have pulled it off.
