Dwall then passed Case for third and Ed Slaughter moved up to put Case further back. The finish saw both Walker and Rabe well out fro nt and Dwall third with Mike Englen (Yam) in the fourth slot. 125 Expert final saw Scott Simmons fall in the first tum causing a restart with only three riders o n the front row. At the second green it was Nolden Smith (Hon) diving in followed by David Bradley (Hon) and then a lap by lap exchange between Bradley and Tracy Harlan (Yam) developed. Smith finishing first, Bra dley a cl ose seco n d and Harlan third. 250 Expert Main saw Larry Ken ned y ge t the green first and go, but Te rry Tripp (H-D) m o ved in fast for the lead after three laps wi th Gar y Ke tchum (K&N) dro pping back from third after a spill put him back. Ketchu m m oved b ack spectacularly t hrough the pack to regain h is third at t he flag. Wit h ten top n am es in the area o n t he pad, the crowd watched with great expectatio n as Danny Cart w right (Bul), Benny Spear (Bul), and J o hny Varbel (Yam ) freight trained from start to finis h. There was a lot of action in the backfield, ho wever , as Randy Cleek (K&N) and Gary Ketchum we re moving through the pac k from an unaccustomed back row start. A bad spill the lap before the white flag stopped the race with Cartwright in the lead fo llowed by Spear, Varbell, Cleek , Ketchum and Bret Braddy (Yam). • Jorski showered in gold By Roy Addington OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA., DEC. 14 Area champs took the forefront in the Motorcycle Race ways' 125cc and Open Expert classes in Oklahoma City. Top winner included T rey J orski, Kerry Smi th and Chris Cunningham . The track was dry and warm until the second heat of the 125 Amateur class when a shower dropped the temperature and the dust. The rain only lasted about 20 minutes and didn't cause an v mud problems. Winner of the 250/Open Expert class was Trey Jorski (Kaw) followed by Chris Cunningham (Suz), Rod Rei,,! (Hon), and fourth place Mark Russell (Yam). Jorski led the pack throughout the entire moto with the other three place winners staying in their respective places during the race. The most exciting event occurred when Tommy Abbit endoed his Kawasaki. The 125 Expert class fell to Trey J orski also with Kerry Smith (Hon) in second and Ran d y Russell (Yam) in third. The 125 class went abo ut the same as t he 250 Expert w ith so me m in or exceptions. Billy Hatfield maintained a close second du ring the first m ot o , but ran in to so me p roblems in t he last mo to . J orski rode his usual style, first and diggi n' , t hro ughout the entire m o to, His mech anical p roblems of two weeks ago were fin ally greased out and his top spot returned to him as it has in the past. Jim Anderso n fini shed first in both motos of the Open Amateur's after battling Henry Rhodes into second place in both motos. David Newley led both 250 Amateur motos and had little difficulty maintaining his lead. Mike Smith took third in both motos and got his second overall place because Ronnie Schwietzer, who finished second in the first moto hit fourth in the last go-around. Don Belton came on strong after his fifth place in the first moto to capture second place in the final he at earning fourth pla ce and almost getting a three way tie in overall points. Keith White dominated the 125 Novice class and never gave up the lead. The real battle was between James Brown and Steve Denny. Denny took second in the first moto and was passed by Brown in the seco nd moto to end in third place while Brown garnered second overall. • ROBERT M.
