Both Jim Hale (Hon) and Jerry Shore (Hon ) have shown tremendous ability during the last few ra ces .. . but h ave fallen short of victory, literally ! Friday nigh t proved to be no exception. Hale won the first mo to of the 125 Experts, while Shore and Bobby Jones (Hon ) battled it out to the finish. Bob Kline had been running third, between the pair, but slid out by the tower and dropped back to fifth . Jerry pulled off second by just a few inches. . Second moto, a new face, Paul Schoner (FM F), zipped in to the lead with J im Hale in hot pursuit, then Jones and Shore. One by one, they managed to pass Paul. Then Hale fell on the downhill straightaway, but still held third overall. t O"l l-o QJ ..0 a QJ u QJ o The 12 5s p rovide d quite a sh ow du rin g the eve ning. Greg Boren and Paul Lane were ru nning in th e top five Juniors when they slid out simultaneously in the tower tum. And in synchronization, both straightened up and took off again. Maybe they'll start a new fad : Moto ball et! There was a good beginner turnout with most probably hoping to transfer before the upcoming Special Junior Day on December 7. With the top prizes being a 125 Honda, a 125 Suzuki and a 125 Yamaha, there is certainly enough incentive to move up . AME will run an extended course at the Dunes, through the sandwash, with water crossings guaranteed! And everyone will run 45 min utes! Since entry is limited, any interested J u niors should se nd in their entry right away or contact AME at (2 13) 881·5778 for m ore in fo rm ation. Lee Flemming (Kaw 900) had grabbed the lead coming off th e line with Dick Fuller (350 Yam) on his heels . Murphy passed Fuller on lap th ree , got aro und Fle mming on the Bill Rubly's number 48 will read Number One in 1976. Dave Taylor was th e one with th e ho tfoot in the 125 Pro class , getting th e h oleshot in th e rus t race and pullin g a good lead on John Atwood (Yam). Taylor simp ly ran away from the pac k on his new Ya maha (a 125 MXC!) and pu t on th e same sort of sho w in the second m oto, Th e seco nd moto was m ore of a battle for secon d pl ace with Taylor long gone . Rob Zamora (Hon) and Rick Carri sosa (Yam) diced it out for the entire race. The two changed places for the first three laps and Carrisosa slipped by Zamora only to be passed on the last lap. The two got so tight that they both crashed right before the finish and Dave Eropkin (Hon) got second with Mark Lawrence (Yam ) taking third. Lawrence came on strong in the final moto and hounded Taylor for the entire race, bu t Dave kept ahead with some very skillful riding. Taylor looked lik e he was going to win all three motos when he crashed in the last corner on the last lap. He still got the overall and Eropkin took home the second place money . Bill Rubly was out on his new Maico and did a repeat performance from the previous week. Jeff "The Rabbit" Vidic (Mai), wh o has probably gotten more holeshots at Irwindal e th an any rider in the track 's history , di d his us ual n umber in the first race bu t didn 't even make it aro und a fu ll lap before Rub ly passed him. Bill di dn 't get as good a star t in the seco nd race but Vidic didn 't either. Henry Saunders (Mai) , got the holeshot and kept the lead for one lap before Rub ly got by an d too k the win. Bill got the ho lcshot in the last race and then was passed by Vidic in the first turn. The two were so close for the entire race that it was har d to tell who was in the lead until they got on the straights. Bill finally got by and took the win. Rubly though t that he had the Open . class sewn up after taking a third and a first in the first two races as Jeff Jennings (Bul) was slowing down after going over the bars. Rubly's four points put him in the lead but then he made the mistake of not accounting for Joe Johnston (Su z) who had five points. Rubly and Johnston were left to dice it out for the rest of the third race. Bill took it easy as he th ou ght he had the race sewn up and took second behind Johnston. Joe won because of Bill's mistake an d his final moto win. • Resul ts in Results Section.
