Who is this No doubt about it, Dave Taylor has Irwindale wired. lost in the back section and at the same time Summers' style didn't look too swift either! They ran the 250 Novices with the Juniors and the Novices did theJuniors in , beating them out of the first three places. Greg Zehner (YZ) took three straight while the real sorting out went on between Steve Loomis and Bob Early also Yamaha-mounted. Arthur Junker who really expressed displeasure when his bike gave him problems at the tires in tum one first moto, came on strong and got a third in the third moto. In points Steve Loomis and Mike Allen tied for second each ending up with a 3-2-4. It was Mike TidweU again in the 250 Expert. He just womped 'em in the first round. did the same in the second and in the third it was Eddie Beeson and Jeff Springman in front for a while but Mike got them both and went on for the win. Ah, those 500 Experts! Mark Reichert, who hasn't campaigned on the District level much since winning the number one heavyweight plate for 1975 was out and looking over the talent. First moto it was Don Grigsby (Yam) "in to the lead, then Jim Wright (Yam), Rick Marquis (Hon) and Mark on a Yamaha. The real thing to watch was Reichert trying to get by Marquis who seemed to have eyes in the back of his head for riding defensively. Mark fmally shot by, and as he took the checkered flag let the delighted stands know just what he thought of Marquis by the classic single fmger salute. Second moto again it was T-Bone cruisin' in front glancing back at a playing Jim Wright behind him, then again Reichert and Marquis. Always in the hunt was Keith Moss on one of the new 500 IT Yammies which really showed what it was happy doing when he climbed the big hill effortlessly in true single fashion between motos but admitted it's "nat fast enough" to which we'll add " y e t. " Last round Wright jumped into the lead an d it was Grigsby and Reichert doin g the chasing. In the back section it was like w ow when Grigsby d ecided it was time to ge t in fr ont again and Wright had the interesting experience o f having both feet come off the pegs at the same time. For a whil e the battle was on, T-Bone, Wright, Reichert, Keith Moss and Marquis and then Reichert came up missing. What went wrong became obvious when buddy Moss was observed riding back to him with a gas can on the tank after the moto was after. Embarrassing, eh what? • Results in Results Section. Rubly doubles at CMC Irwindale By Tom Blattler IRWINDALE, CAL., NOV. 14 The quest for the new van and CMC's Number One plate came a little closer to Bill Rubly at Irwindale Raceway's next-to-last motocross program of 1975. Rubly, sporting a new Maico in the 250 Pro class, swept the program in both the 25 0 and 500 Pro divisions with challenger Jeff Jennings breaking his Bultaco early. The added points gives Rubly almost an unsurmountable lead over Jennings with less than 10 CMC even ts left in the Southern California area. In the 250 Pros, Jeff Vidic was the favorite with Rubly having the new ride. However, Bill jumped to the lead immediately in the opening moto, grabbing the win followed by Maico-mounted Vidic. Moto two saw Vidic come up with mechanical trouble while running second, and again Rubly scored the easy win , this time over Val Tamietti (Mai). In the final, Rubly, smelling victory and getting used to his new mount, again scored the win over Tamietti and Vidic, A fine field of 125 Pros were assembled with David Taylor and D & G rider Gary Denton the favorites. Each week at Irwindale, either Taylor or Denton are at the pit gate by one p.m. for the valuable first position at the starting gate. This week it was Denton with position number on e, and he was out of the gate first in the ope n in g moto. With Denton leadin g, Taylor, who was riding a st ock "125 Yamaha because David says it handles better at Irwindale, was running a close second. Taylor got past to take t he victory over Denton and Rob Zamora (Hon). The second round again found Denton with the holeshot and the lead. Only this time, Gary was not to be denied, as he defeated Taylor and Zamora. This left Taylor and Denton tied in points going into the final moto. However, Taylor took the lead from the start. • Tune In again, Issue 50 to lind out!
