Orland indoor rollerball , By Rex Backman ORLAND, CAL., NOV. 1 You have to see an indoor race to believe it. Riders start the night with sparkling clean machines and leathers. By the end of the evening 26 however, black tire marks are everywhere, including frames, shocks, helmets and leat hers. The Bultaco ace won the 250 Expert main., coupled it with a fourth place finish in the 360 Expert class and earned top money for the night. . After onl y one restart (a record of sorts) the 250 Expert riders were on their merry way, bumping, shoving and kicking for the top spots. Crummett muscled his wa y into the lead as Bob Ross (Oss) and Dallas T urner (Yam) tussled over second. Crummett won quite easily and Ros s took second after Turner faded a little towards the end. Jeff Sierick (Hon) and Robin Hill (Yam) fell on lap three of the 360 Expert main, necessitating a ' single file restart. Yamah a mounted John Grant held the early lead over Greg Ferguso n (Yam). Manuel Crummett and rapid Robin Hill were trailing. Grant is a little o n th e big side, and co nseq ue ntly can take quite a bit of abuse an d still stay uprigh t. F~rguso n tried hard to use Grant 's bike as a berm in th e north comer several times, but J ohn stuck like glue to his precise lines and nabbed the win . Robin Hill , up from next to last, . held off the charges of Crummett for third. Scott Lo ngnecker, John Evan s and Hayden Campbell tried to rid e through the first turn of the 360 Novice class all together, but Campbell was pushed wide and Longnecker took the inside line. Scott went on to win, but Paul Hammers (Bul ) came up from fifth to grab second from Evans at th e finish, • Results in Results Section.
