~ lCl e-r l-< Il) ..0 E Il) > o Z Jeff Allison · dominates Elsinore By And i Gangewe r ELSINORE, CAL. , OCT. 25 Jeff Allison, 14, from Poway, showed up at Elsinore to really blow th e locals off. On a 400 Yamaha, he took everyone by st orm. Chris Blair and Steve J ones were the number one and two transfers to the main even t from heat one of the Open Novice class. Allison and Dwayne'Locke were the final two transfers fro m the second heat. Four riders would transfer from the semi, and it was a battle against who would be the fourth one. Mike Montgomery had first wrapped 'u p , followed by Vance Fisher, ano t her easy transfer. . As the green flag new, and the Open Novices took off for the main event, it was Allison blazing the t rail for the others to follow. Allison, with a good lea d, could take it easy, b ut Locke and J ones each had to work a little for their positions. There wasn't any change in position, however, and the three Yamahas of Jeff, Dwayne and Steve finished in th at order. Allison did a repeat in the Special Novice class. Winning the first heat, he transferred to the main along with Dana Peters, the winner of the second heat. Jeff had it eas y in his heat, but Dana won his by th e skin of his teeth. Tim Thibodeaux had led th e first three laps, but as they came around for the checkered, Peters was in first . With 162 riders and 63 races, the Special Novice main was a long awaited affair. Allison was number one from start to fin ish. As Jeff kept pulling aw ay , Zehner and Wine, both Yamaha-mounted, gave each other lessons o n how to play follow the leader. Wine held second the first two laps, but Zehner won the contest and stayed a distant second .to Allison the rest of the race. After all the races were over, a wheelie co ntest was run . John Allison, the second-ranked Expert at Ascot, rode the 400 Yamaha that Jeff did so we ll on and put o n a show for all. J oh n ca me to pick up the high point trophy do nated by Sandak Racing Association fo r placing second in Ascot's points and decided to have some fun. John stood o n the scat and kept the front wheel up ar o und the fir st turn an d picked up a T-sh irt alo ng with th e big Ascot trophy. • Resul ts in .Results Sect ion.
