Hou ghton (Ya m) take t he lead with Bull Haynie and David Langle y (Ya m) in h o t pursuit. Lan gley pa ssed Haynie and was workin g h ard on Hough ton at th e finish . In Saturday night 's 125cc Final, gun Gary Ketchum (K & N Yam) hustled to a come-from behind 125 w in Satu rd ay , was freight-trained into third Sunday . jumping, fo uled plugs, and overheated clutches caused a restart but once under wa y David Copeland grabbed the holeshot followed by Gary Ketchum (K&N) and Dave Bradley (Misi monoshock }, bu t o n th e third lap Bubba Shobert (Kaw) came on strong to move into second wh ile a t the same time Ketchem took first. Copeland and Sho bert spe n t the remainder of th e rac e in a hair-raising dice for second with Shobert fin all y naili ng it down. With 15 la ps to go Rusty Gourly (Bul) led the 3 60cc p ack into turn o ne for two lap s as Freddie Spencer moved fro m way back in the shuffle after a terribl e start . Te rry Poo vey (Bul) grabbed seco nd but Sp encer swept by an d sto le th e lead in th e fift h lap. The ba ttle was over with Gourly lookin g on in th ird. Ru st y Patillo and Kenny Biggs to ok fourth and fifth at th e n ag. Sunday Wit h an after-m id night finish to Satu rday 's races, th e Sunday pr ogram star ted an h our earlier and op erated with mu ch more efficiency. Very few of the more than 200 entries were missing for the Sunday program sin ce the largest share of the $2400 weekend purse was ta gged for Sunday night with money going to 14 places in the finals. Those wh o won main events on Saturday night au to matically had a slot saved fo r them in the Sunday mains.
