Scoffo~e scoffs Up Sandhill MX By SteVe Castillo ... ~ BRENTWOOD , CAL., OCT. 5 Steve Scoffone (Vil) won both motos of th e 250 Pro class to day at Sandhill Ran ch but both wins came hard. Scoffone pulled out front at the start of m oto one with Bill Johnson in sec o nd an d Ron Sel f (Hus) in third. Sel f started pressurin g J o hnson a nd so on sho t by. Scoffo n e's lead st arted t o decline ra p idly as Self pic ked up a few . seco n ds each la p. Within t wo laps o f t he fin ish Sel f had closed in, and ca me ar o u nd on th e nex t lap. Bu t Sco ffone didn 't let up and stayed o n Self the best he co uld . It p aid o ff. as Sel f los t hi s c hain and ro Iled to a st op. Glenn Jennin gs (Ho n) picked up another 125 Pro win at Sandhill against some stron g co mpetitio n. In moto on e Mike Am ara l Jed from start to finish , b ut in moto two Jennings was out for the bu cks and w as really gassing it. After Jennin gs pulled out the lead . Amaral (Hon) and Chris Grewer (Hon) started battling it o u t for second place, Amaral co mi ng out on top · through sheer fo rce. Dan Ge ery was also in volved in this race but Dan go t off while he wa s lead in g Amaral an d Grewer. • • Super wet Seattle MX By Sue Sykes KENT. WASH.• OCT. 5 H onda-mounted Bill J oyce splashed his way to vict ory at .S.I. R. in 125 Pro acti on during the first Sunday race of the winter seri es a nd th e first super wet race day in months. . Mike Odden grabbed th e lead in moto one and st a yed out in front for four laps until Joyce got a pass on the back ' straight. Lee Voss (Suz) took hi s m id-pack start and made th e best of it 'cause by lap seven he: was running in the second spot behind J o yce. Odden . bounced back, kept chargin' and took the flag on lap 12 in second position. A missed sha rp tum, however. re sulted in a course-cut ruling and Odden was moved to third, behind Voss.
