Put a bite on the competition
direction and everyone was really
stoked.
First off the line was the combined
100cc and Powder Puff class and Tony
O'Reilly (Suz) took an early lead in
both motos fo r first overall. Debbie
Hassler (Hon) and Dawn Cash (Suz)
swapped finishing po sition s in both
motos with Debbie taking the P.P. win
and Dawn getting second.
Suzuki factory rider Bill Gro ssi was
there with his RN 37 0 Suzuki to try out :
his h ome town track. He got off to a b ad
start but by the end of the first lap had
moved up into second to challenge Gary
Murp hy (Hus) for the Open le ad . Dave
Longcor (Bul) was right in there holding
down thi rd as the three riders began to
move away from the pack. Murphy was
able to hold off Grossi and Longcor for
the first few laps but both riders got by
him and he began to drop back. Once in
the lead, Billy opened it up to a minute
and a half over Longcor. The second
moto was a replay of the first as
Murphy got into the lead on the first lap
only to be passed again by Grossi and
Longcor. Rick Sulton (Mai) put in two
consistent rides for a fourth and third to
take third overall.
In the first moto of the 250 Experts,
Ron Self took the lead coming out of
the first tum and held it for the rest of
the race. Dave Longcor (Bul) got off to
a bad start, but by the third lap had
moved from eighth into second where
he stayed for the rest of the race.
Dennis Brand (Hus) had trouble in
the first moto where he finished eigh th,
but took the lead at the beginning of
