I Fullerto n fresh ma n, 16-year-ol d Dennis Sigalos surp rised the final nigh t's crowd at Inl and Motorcycle Speedway by wrapping up th e tr a ck' s s e c ond di v i sion ch am pi o nship . Making his lo cal bow, Sigalos won 14 of a possible 15 poin ts , to edge Rod Sexton and Denny Sc o pellit e for th e title. Th e two staged a heart-poundin g dice fo r run ner-up spot, with Sexton h o ldi ng ou t in the four-lap finale . Gene Woods, attem pting to em ula te th e ch am pion sh ip drive which carried his older brother Rick in to a de adl o ck with Mik e Bast fo r t op firs t d ivis ion honors th e previous wee k here, fell sh o rt with an eveni ng's to tal of 12 poin ts . Local crowd favorite "Rapid" Ron Pres ton p u t o n a berserko exhibition of riding, p u lling wh eelies and assor ted daredevil maneuvers, bu t finished in fi fth for the evening . Powell SUNNYMEAD, CAL., SE PT. 14 Two bikes pull up to the starting line, the tower gives a nod indicating that the ligh ts are working, the starter drops the gate, and off Typical d rag h illclimb start as two rid ers grab for traction and head for the hill. A disqualifica tion in the 360 stock class gave the win to Bill Estes on a Husky. Yo un g Tad Jenson, riding a bike so big he co uld n' t reach the ground took second in the 360 modified class after Will iam Nuesse had tied u p firs t. J en so n is stil l a p re-t een, a nd th is was hi s first tr y at a m odified 360. Yo u ng Dick De Rosa and Ke rry Peterson traded first a nd second in t he 400 stoc k a nd modi fied classes. De Rosa also took the win th e 4 50 modified class . The Open class cam e to the line with throbbin g engines echoing througho ut th e park. Th e 175 cla ss, usually a ba ttl e between pretty Alice H udnall and Jim Co llier, went to Ali ce and her Yamaha. Co llier had to settle for a third pl ace tie with George Sauer. The 250 stock class was domi nated by th ree teenage rs. Mike Shea , garn ered a firs t, wi th the Powell brothers, David a nd Mike taking seco nd and t hird . The 250 modified class we nt to Gary Peters on when his o nly tough co m pet it io n , Doug Hall, was left sitting on the line, his bike still in neutral when the gate fell. Triumph. The fastest man over the hill, beating out 115 riders was Neal Mackel. Fast kid on yellow Yammy does it again By And i Gangewer ELSINORE, CAL.. SE PT: 13 As bikes and riders rolled to the start of the Elsinore TT, most of the be ts were on the yellow Yamm y in the 125 Ex pe rt class. Mik e Ti dwell, the 14 year old " fast kid " w as off the lin e and wa y out front with Steve Wo skos ki and Charlie Sum mers side by side dicing fo r second. Tidwell stretched his lead on every lap of all three mo tos and coasted around fo r another easy overall wi n.
