The 12 5cc Am ateur /Expert half-mile saw Ti d we ll again out in front with a close duel for second between Danny Perkins and David Jenkins. David held that second spot until the last lap when Perkins zipped b y and took it all away. Next to fall under Tidwell's 'm igh ty Yamaha was the 250cc Amateur/Expert IT, but here he was met with Mike Minnig, a rider that always seems to be racing against Mr. Tidwell. Minnig was out on top an d looked as if he could hang on to it but with Tidwell it doesn't pay to be too complacent and on lap four of th e five lap Main it ended as it has happened to so many before and number three went into the books. The fin al win was the prestigious 25 0cc Expert Twin half-mile a nd it was wire t o wire for him. Fred Conover rode his Dad's 450cc Kawasaki to victory on the Open Novice IT. Freddy couldn't even touch the ground but he sure knew how to twist the throttle. Kip Johnston led the race until Jap four when Fred got by and went on for the win. Another brother act saw Gary and Bobby Ontiveros wrap up the 125cc IT and half-mile, Gary won his from start to finish over, would you believe, Eric and Greg Johnson while brother Robby let Terry McCreery have the number one spot until he decided he looked too comfortable and took over. Jon Clark blew the boys away in the Open Amateur/Expert IT and second place Albert Renz was the only one to even get close enough to see his dust. Same held true for Denny Aguirre on the Open Amateur half-mile and again it was Albert Renz who had the second pla ce honors with Rick Bird rounding out the field with third. Roger Dufur led the 250cc Novice IT from wire to wire and let Gary Juola and Bobbi Hunter, our resident young lady, battle for second and that they did with Bobbi in front until the last lap when Gary got past her for the second. Bobbi came back and battled Brian Theunisse s for the half-mile win and this one had her name on it even though she had to fight for it and it took her h alf the race to get around Brian. • Results in Results Section.
