It m ay be all he needs to start walking again. • Round two of t he 250 Pros found Turn er in the lead with Burn s in second. T urner o pened up an enormous lead and took an easy victory. Burns an d Ken Frost battled it out with Bums taking second and Frost ending up third. JUNE 22 Cruising was out and coo king it was in on Anderson Dry Lake Blvd., this weekend in Lucerne Valley . Th e sta rt here was so fast that if it took two kicks to sta rt yo ur bike , you were o ut of contention. Dust was a bit o f a pro blem , but it did not seem to bothe r A.C. Bakken as he stuc k h is facto ry Hu sky in sixth gear and took the race , leading wire to wire . Sec o nd to th e bomb was Ron Bebo foll owed by " Lil " An d y Kir ker . Un like A.C ., Ro n had so me problems and bro ke out o n th e firs t lo op . This moved Kirker into seco nd position, but this was not to last as TIm Bowman was coming o n hard after a ho hum start and passed him when Kirker missed a turn . Al the finish line it was Bakken , Bowman and Hasten. Howeve r, Ron Turner , th e · Can-Am ace , to o k both the 25 0 and 125 Pro classes and gave the cr owd quite a show. Turner had no pro blem win ning the combined 125 Pro / In term ediate mot os. Turner's o nly compe tition came from Intermediate Kar l Kahn (Ho n) . Kahn co ul d n ot kee p up with Tu rner's rapid p ace, an d had to settle fo r second in each race . Kahn t ook first o verall in t he 125 In ter media te class wh ile J im "Cra sher" Cr o wley (Hod ) fin ished with t wo seconds and second o veral l. The 250 In termediate class looked as th ough it bel on ged to J eff Wen7.e1 (Mai) after his runaway in the first moto. But Wenzel 's luck ran out in the second race when he fell whil e leading Carlos Conteras (Yam) on the sec o nd to last lap . Conteras picked up the overall win while Edguardo Garcia (Hus) fin ished wi t h a t hird and a second to ta ke second overall. The 250 Pro clas s was th e prov ing gro und for Turner, in the firs t mo to he trailed Mike Stearns (Mon) for four laps, an d th en passed Stearns when he crash ed in the turn after the finish lin e. Ron we nt on to take th e chec ke red flag with Ken Frost (Pen ) follo wing for se co nd and Randy Burns (Ya m) in th ird . Lunde undefeated By Mike Klinger GARDEN A, CAL. , J UN E 18 Now that th e schools arc finally closing th eir doo rs, th e racer turnou t at Ascot Park is really beginning to pick up . Over 130 ride rs competed an d Chuck Lu nde (PCH) , on only h is second ride at Asco t , is becoming the big night winner. Chu ck Lunde won all three motos bu t wa s pushed considerably by TIm Lunde (Bo n ) an d Mark Tyer (Ya m ). In mo to t wo , Rick Bean (Ho n) led th e pa c k fo r th ree lap s but was outgassed by Lunde o n a straightaway. The line- up through the lust tum of the 250 Pro class was Va l Ta mie tti (Mai) , Bill Rubl y (CA ) and J e ff J ennings (Bul), the top three riders bidding for the 1976 CMC number one pl at e.
